Photography Backdrop Ideas: How to Choose Photography Backdrops Carefully

Photography backdrops are an important part of green screen photography. Though the backdrops will be removed, but they determine the quality of the output. If shooting is done in front of a wrong color, then you may not get satisfactory results. Thus, choose backdrops carefully. Here are the photography backdrop ideas to choose right backdrops: -

• Choose contrasting colors – Your subject should not be wearing any cloth or accessory of the color which is the same color as the backdrop. If your subject is wearing green clothes, do not choose green backdrops, rather choose blue backdrops. The rule does not apply for small things like the color of the eye or shoe laces.

• Make use of neutral backdrops very carefully – The neutral colors like white, gray, black etc. control reflections & reduce the problem of color spill, but they can create other problems if not used with caution. For example – black color can create keying problem, because this color is very common. Black backdrops are good for taking photos of jewelry, because there are very less chances of having anything in black in jewelry items.

• Don’t use colors which are found in skin tone of humans – The colors like yellow, brown and red can be found in humans’ skin tone, and thus should be avoided. The most important of all photography backdrop ideas is to use the color which is not there in the foreground. Blue and green are mostly preferred.
